Chinese New Year is a very important holiday and one of the oldest traditions in China. This festival usually falls on the first day of the lunar calendar which is a different date every year. It is one of the most popular festivals in China. It is a family reunion holiday and a time for ancestor worship and praying for happiness.
There are many traditions associated with Chinese New Year including hanging Spring Festival couplets lanterns fireworks and having a big New Year's Eve dinner.
