I am glad to tell you something about the Chinese Spring Festival. The Spring Festival falls on the first day of the lunar year which is always different from the Gregorian calendar.
This is the biggest and most important festival in China just like Christmas in Western countries. On that day all family members get together to have a big dinner and the atmosphere is happy and warm. We usually eat dumplings which means we send away the old year and welcome the new one.
Besides there are many other customs such as watching the CCTV Spring Festival Gala setting off firecrackers giving red envelopes to children and so on. They are all very traditional and meaningful.
For me the Spring Festival is more than just an occasion to have fun. It represents the idea of reunion and harmony which is very important for Chinese people. I hope you can also experience it one day.
